Changes in the deposit insurance legislation

On 18 May 2009 the Hungarian Parliament approved the law amending the present legislation on deposit insurance, in accordance with the EU Directive 2009/14/EC of 11 March 2009.
The new law sets the coverage limit to HUF-equivalent of 50.000 Euro and maximizes the pay-out period available to the NDIF to 20 working days (with one possible extension of 10 working days).
The new coverage limit is effective from 1 July 2009, while the new regulation for the pay-out period is effective from January 2010.
